Eight Months and a CO

It’s August 31, 2023, and the sun is beaming through the windows. It feels right.

Yesterday, Len, Sherry and Joel of Saving Time Design did their first walk-through at Ivet’s Vista following the CO which was issued on Tuesday. I stayed behind. Although Len hated to go without me, his visit was the prelude to the walkthrough with the builder. He’s making a list of concerns to be addressed by the builder - hopefully.

After two hours, they returned to our rental. Two hours. I thought it was either a very good sign or a very bad sign. All three got out of their vehicles, walked toward me with pouts covering their faces. It was a joint effort to rattle me, and it worked. Following two minutes of them gloating, they caved. Nothing was revealed only crooked smiles that gave nothing away.

A meal with Sherry and Joel has become a norm (and will continue to be), so the four of us went for dinner at Hiawassee Brew. On the way, I grilled Len. The same answer, a hearty laugh with an unbelievable smile following the laugh. “I had no idea they could do that.”

I want to remember this moment. Len is rarely speechless but his facial expressions told the tale of how unbelievable this reveal had been. “I turned one way, and then another. One thing and then another. Everything fit.” I asked, “What about the bookcase?” A heartier laugh, “WHOA. Who knew Joel could do that?” Each element was more impressive than the next with nothing taking centerstage more than the other.

Our rustic Italian farmhouse is real. I have to wait two weeks as the builder fixes some issues and Saving Time Design stages the home. I can wait for I’m living off Len’s excitement. “I didn’t want to leave,” Len told me many times. “I can finally say, ‘Get off my grass.’”

Spring brings walls, but August has brought a home.
