Part One of Final Deadline

Today is the day. 📚

The path to publishing is never a straight line. What started over a year ago is coming down to the final 34 days. Yes, 34 days. There’s a counter on my computer desktop. Writer reminders are a necessity because I have excuses for days!

Images and captions are going to the publisher today. How many times do you reread and cross-reference before you submit anything for publication? Are there ever enough re-reads? I think I could recite all the captions verbatim. At this point, I know I can edit when the copy editor goes through the final manuscript, but the goal is to not have him or her work too hard. That’s how you get another project down the road.

You’ll see none of these photos in the book, but they are as integral part of the story as the ones you’ll see in the book. The research and discovery are the hardest parts. Knowing what you want and need to uncover and then make others understand its importance is difficult. Meeting MY deadlines wasn’t always a source’s priority. And that’s ok. We’re at the end now.

Cheers to the writing process 📚 and every element that makes it a life-changing adventure.
