Rock City Barns | The Last Road Trip

Turns out, it’s our last road trip before we start assembling images and words for the book. We have had the opportunity to meet with amazing people from the Rock City organization.

On this trip, we met the amazing Bill Chapin, past owner of Rock City. To say that he was the spark that kept this destination thriving is an understatement. Thank you Bill, for sharing your story. From Rock City Gardens, we traveled south into Alabama, heading toward Fort Payne where we had been before during a barn painting. Many barns on the list did not exist; time had destroyed many of these nearly 100-year-old structures.
Every trip we make, there are changes in the barns and the landscape. This slice of Americana is disappearing very quickly.
